GAME PREVIEW

Superior City FC will be riding momentum off of last week's 3-1 win over Bateaux FC as they enter into their first UPSL league match in club history. This week's roster will look mostly unchanged, with the exception of last week's two-time goal scorer Arseno Hamilton and starter Drogba Mvogo unavailable for selection. Twin City FC are looking to avenge a rough 2022 season, and will bring an improved roster to this weekend's game, with many players local to the northern Twin Cities-area. Watch for Superior's front three of Mally Lumsden, Jordan Finneran and Siji Gonzalez to break through on the scoresheet this week, after a fairly quiet showing in last week's friendly. Superior City will need to start the season strong, and this is a perfect opportunity to show fellow UPSL opposition what's in store for the remainder of the year.

WHO ARE THEY?

Twin City were founded in 2019. The club played their first three years in the MRSL, Minnesota's most competitive recreational soccer league, before joining the UPSL in 2022. Twin City FC were formerly known as Ebusua FC, changing their name ahead of this year's season. The club's mission is to maintain high level soccer and entertainment for residents of Coon Rapids and its surrounding communities. Twin City FC has won several cup competitions including the African Cup of Nations held in Fargo, ND in 2020 and the Liga Independiente West African Stars Cup in 2020.

HOW DID THEY DO LAST YEAR?

Twin City FC competed in the UPSL Premier Midwest-West Conference during the 2022 season, finishing in 11th place with a 1-8-1 record.

Sunday, April 30th | College of St Benedict Sports Complex (St. Joseph, MN) | 2:00 PM CT

Free Admission | No Livestream | 46 degrees and partly cloudy

GAME PREVIEW

The Wolfpack will be looking to build off of a 3-0 loss to Granite City last week, and will again bring a squad composed of seasoned vets, along with remaining trialists looking to earn a spot on this year's roster. Superior's back line and midfield, led by Jack Burmood and Yabkal Demelash, looked strong last game. The club will look to see improved play from the wingers and forwards, who need to start capitalizing on their chances in the final third if the Pack want to stay competitive in the match. Rock City is riding high off of a 8-3 win over Granite City last weekend, and are bringing a very strong local roster ahead of opening up the MRSL season in the next few weeks. Last year's game was physical and fast, and nothing less should be expected from this year's friendly.

WHO ARE THEY?

Rock City FC were formed in 2001 as a member of the Minnesota Amateur Soccer League (MASL), a Twin Cities based league. The club has been known by multiple names over its 22 year history, including St Cloud SC and St Cloud Lightning. The teams have historically consisted of players in the St. Cloud area, and recently have expanded to include players from multiple cities in and around Central Minnesota. The club began with teams in both the Second and Third Divisions of the MASL. The squad has sent Over-40 teams to Vegas for the Kings Cup tournament every winter since 2017. In 2018, Rock City FC dropped down to the Minnesota Recreational Soccer League, working their way into the First Division. Starting in 2020, the club has participated in the MN Fall Cup, a competition consisting of Minnesota-based UPSL squads.

HOW DID THEY DO LAST YEAR?

Rock City FC competed in the First Division of the Minnesota Recreational Soccer League during the 2022 season. Rock City FC won the MRSL First Division championship for the second year in a row after a successful 7-4-3 campaign, edging out Red Devils by two points for the title.

LOOKING FORWARD:

Superior Wolfpack FC will kick off WPASL play on Sunday, May 14th in Eau Claire, WI as they take on Union Eau Claire FC. Rock City will be defending their title in the Minnesota Recreational Soccer League's First Division, which kicks off in a few weeks.

HISTORY AGAINST ROCK CITY FC:

This will be the second meeting between the clubs, with the Wolfpack edging Rock City 5-3 in a preseason friendly last season.
